Havas Work Club, along with sister company Havas PR UK, is calling on Manchurians to take part in a ‘crowdsourced marathon’ which will see participants only running a short part of the traditional 26.2 miles.

Each person will be asked to cover a distance of 115 metres on Market Street in the city centre, starting at the Media Co Outdoor screen outside Debenhams and finishing at the screen located outside All Saints, as part of the ‘adrun’.

Those taking part will be able to see their face on the interactive touch screens by posing for a ‘selfie’ prior to the race, as well as receiving a Macmillan medal to share on social media sites to boost fundraising targets.

Mandy West, corporate fundraising manager at Macmillan, said: “We are delighted that Havas has chosen to put on this event to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

“Whether they decide to run the distance, or ride it on a BMX bike, all of the participants will be helping to support the thousands of people in Greater Manchester and the UK who are affected by cancer – from the patients, to their families and carers – as no one should face cancer alone.”

Participants will be asked to make a £3 text donation on the day of the race – 13 September at 10am – in order to take part.
