Infographic: The habits of British spending around payday

With 64 per cent of the public getting paid at the end of the month, ZenithOptimedia has unveiled an infographic looking at the spending strategies of Brits as payday approaches.

A quarter (24 per cent) of those surveyed say they will spend ‘a little’ more money when payday rolls around, although 51 per cent say that receiving their pay makes no difference on their spending.

Food it the top item people are most likely to buy after being paid, with clothes, alcohol and entertainment items all falling behind.

ZenithOptimedia suggests pushing value products the week before payday, and premium content just after payday in order to capitalise on this trend.
