'Leaked' National Trust ad sparks social media frenzy
A video claiming to be a leaked advert for The National Trust has been causing quite the commotion on social media. Purporting to be from a campaign entitled ‘Expect the Unexpected’ the ad certainly is not what you would expect from the charity which looks after historic houses, gardens, mills, forests, castles, nature reserves and more. The video is over-the-top, unconventional and, dare we say it, downright hilarious. Response on social media so far has been widely positive with ad and PR agencies even querying its authenticity, but sadly, according to The National Trust’s Twitter feed it ‘can’t take credit, but we did have a chuckle too’. At the time of writing The Drum is still awaiting comment from The National Trust on its reaction to the ad, but we think this should definitely influence its next campaign. Check out some of the tweets about the ad below:

Great bit of "out of character for the brand" online video from the National Trust: http://t.co/eLlsBz45OL

Love that the National Trust did this (even though it's not meant to look like they did) http://t.co/5gDOQT6dBP— James Herring (@TaylorHerringUK) February 27, 2014
If this isn't a National Trust advert, it should be http://t.co/oQZc9K0MpB— Devin Hunt (@hailpixel) February 27, 2014— Marcus Green (@MarcusInStroud) February 27, 2014
