Channel 4's Simpsons ident to feature in a real episode of the show as part of Super Bowl-themed couch gag
An ident made by channel 4 to celebrate The Simpson’s airing on the channel in 2006 is to feature in a forthcoming episode of the show, broadcasting in the US this weekend (Saturday 25 January).
Running as part of a Super Bowl-themed couch gag, the 30-second clip where Homer is repeatedly electrocuted as he attempts to retrieve his six-pack of Duff beer that has become entangled in Springfield’s power lines was commissioned eight years ago by 4Creative and produced by The Simpson animators Gracie Films.
The ident, shown above, still airs on UK TV, with The Simpsons still a Channel 4 staple. 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the iconic – and ageless - cartoon family, who first hit TV screens back in 1989.
