The creator, producer star and voice of much of the cast of Family guy, Seth McFarlane, has confirmed via Twitter that the much publicised killing off of one of the show’s lead characters, Brian Griffin, was an elaborate stunt.Brian, voiced by McFarlane, was killed onscreen last month. The exercise had been written off by many as a drive for ratings following a recent slump in audience for the programme. Its audience was down 19 percent compared to last year. This afternoon, McFarlane said the stunt had in fact been a “warm, fuzzy holiday lesson” .“Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash,” he tweeted. He added: “I mean, you didn't really think we'd kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we'd have to be fucking high.”It is not known when Brian will return. His canine replacement, Vinny, already appears in the show’s opening title sequence.
