This project, 'I Had To Grow Up Fast', came about after exploring ideas of childhood and how it creates sense of self. The installation itself depicts myself, my mom and my sister sleeping of the floor of our new house when we first moved in. We did not really have anything after a series of events occurred and we did not have a home. However, I look back on these events in a way which is slightly positive as it has meant that I am sat here today. The installation is interactive, as viewers are invited to watch the films through the camcorder and on the TV.

As an artist, I do not like to limit myself to one material or subject matter due to the fact I get bored easily and like to take myself on various journeys. My projects have spanned through politics, my ancestry, communities, comedy and childhood. They have all aided in exploring myself and my relationship to the world. My only aim is that the viewer should make their own meaning behind the work as I believe it is up to them and not to me. Even though I sometimes tackle difficult themes, I always want my work to have elements of fun and playfulness. This often comes from my love of comedy, particularly the surreal and the absurd. I am also one of the co-founders of the art collective Round Lemon, which serves to help young and up and coming artists to be seen.
