MISSION Agency Bray Leino Events has been awarded the delivery phase of the Event Management Services contract for the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The Agency will manage sponsor and partner programmes, venue and logistics, and be supported by fellow MISSION Agency, Speed Communications, to deliver PR and communications for this major global event.

Expo 2020 Dubai, described as ‘The World’s Greatest Show’, is expected to attract more than 25 million visits from 192 countries. In light of the current global health crisis, the event, initially due to open in October this year, has been postponed until 1st October 2021. Its focus on bringing nations together to share solutions to some of the planet’s greatest challenges will be more relevant than ever in a post-pandemic world.

Under the theme ‘Innovating for a Shared Future,’ the UK Pavilion is inspired by a project from the late scientist Stephen Hawking in which he pondered how humanity could express itself to an extra-terrestrial civilisation. It will offer an awe-inspiring glimpse into the future, exploring everything from autonomous cars to sustainable cities, from artificial intelligence to the commercialisation of space.

Jim McLoughlin, Head of Creative at Bray Leino Events, commented: “Expo is a world showcase - a chance to push creative boundaries at a truly global live experience. We are looking forward to bringing the UK story to life and sharing all that is great about the United Kingdom. From live performance to social channels, we are already making good progress creating amazing content for delivery to this global audience.”

As the event management Agency for the UK Pavilion, Bray Leino Events will welcome government leaders, business leaders, celebrities and other high profile VIPs to engage in the UK’s programme. It will also produce the UK National Day at Expo and deliver more than 400 events over the six-month duration. The Agency will be supporting teams from 6 UK Government Departments promoting the UK’s position as a world-class destination for trade, investment, education and tourism.

Luke Brown, Managing Director at Bray Leino Events, commented: “World Expos are unique… and Expo 2020 Dubai will be a true spectacle! The UK Pavilion will be an unrivalled platform for highlighting our nation’s creativity and reinforcing the UK’s reputation as a global hub for innovation. I’m looking forward to imagining and delivering an event that will demonstrate the power and importance of collaboration at a time when we need it most.”

Laura Faulkner OBE, Commissioner General and Project Director for the UK at Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “Bray Leino Events has an impressive track record of event delivery and are ideal for delivering the events programme and its associated global campaign and communication activity, capturing the UK’s world class offer at Expo 2020 Dubai.

“Our content and events programme at Expo will showcase the UK’s world leading creativity and innovation. We look forward to working with Bray Leino Events, utilising this platform to reconnect with the international community in 2021.”

James Clifton, MISSION Group Chief Executive added: “This is an incredibly exciting project for Bray Leino Events and Speed Communications to be a part of at a time when global collaboration and innovation is more critical than ever.”
