Tom Hutton and Rowan Kleij attend Google Partners’ Agency Leaders Program, in partnership with INSEAD

Last week my colleague Tom Hutton and I got the chance to attend Google’s first-ever Partners’ Agency Leader Program, one of two multi-day sessions in France and Ireland being held this autumn.

Gathering together the UK’s leading Agency partners – TMI included – the event was a collaboration between Google and the world-renowned INSEAD business school. The 29 attendees were a diverse mix of CEOs, directors and high-potential professionals who lead agency SEM teams.

We were hosted at the beautiful Chateau De Guermantes, a 30-minute drive from Paris, by INSEAD’s Professor of Strategy James Constantini.

His focus over the four days, was on leading agency teams – and ultimately their clients – through change, increasing adaptability to evolving technology and user behaviour, and thinking critically about the future business models on which agencies need to operate to remain competitive.

We also got an opportunity to speak to our industry colleagues about common problems and to think critically about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

After the heavy toil of the seminar room came a chance to unwind, including a karaoke session with peers and Googlers, and building and racing go-carts.

The whole experience was topped off with a romantic paddle across a French chateau pond under the setting sun with Tom.
