Who are Hennings Wine?

Since 1960, Hennings Wine has gone from strength to strength thanks to a personalised service, enviable product knowledge and delightful expertise.

The project brief

Strawberrysoup first started working with Hennings Wine over six years ago and have since helped to deliver two e-commerce websites to help the business grow both locally and nationally. Hennings Wine added personal services such as private wine tasting events and had state of the art enomatic wine dispensing machines installed in store.

Following this expansion of the brand and the opening of more retail outlets, Hennings Wine required a site which not only satisfied the needs of todays digital market but one that was also a continuation of the pride and heritage found in store. A site offering an authentic user experience and clear brand identity online.

What did we deliver?

We delivered a fully responsive website redesign and development based on the WooCommerce framework for WordPress. Their email newsletter software is controlled by MailChimp so we integrated their API. As well as a fully bespoke ordering process, we also developed shared and private ‘add to wishlist’ functionality for users. The website is hosted on Amazon Web Services Cloud Hosting for ongoing scalability and robustness.

Speed is an important factor from both a user and search perspective, so we setup Apache mod_pagespeed to provide an optimum page speed performance.

Once the site was ready to go live, we embarked on a full SEO migration process from the old website structure to the new one as well as creating eCommerce goal monitoring within Google Analytics.

What happens next?

We are monitoring performance vs benchmark data and looking to further improve the site with a steady stream of ongoing SEO and paid search.
