Killer Clown Craze Video Creates Social Storm
October 19, 2016
S3 Advertising have set social media alight with a viral video highlighting the struggle of real clowns in the wake of the recent killer clown craze.
Our award-winning video and photography team produced the reactive video within a 12-hour period, launching the 80-second spot on our Facebook and Twitter accounts on the evening of October 14th. Over the ensuing weekend, the video enjoyed nearly 86,000 views, engaging with over 450,000 users.
“Here at S3 Advertising, we say that we disrupt audiences, and this video definitely has. Social media isn’t about knowing how to shortlink properly or how to push the social buttons; it’s about content and how it always needs to be current and on topic. This video highlights what we already know: that content is king!”
– Matt Jones / CEO at S3 Advertising
The video highlights the struggle of a Cardiff-based clown, whose career has taken a dramatic downward spiral since the start of the killer clown movement. Using an emotionally driven narrative, audiences have been left unsure as to whether the video is in fact real or simply a parody.
Jones added: “Our social media channels have been going insane; people’s reactions are exactly what we wanted. The messaging and hashtag – #Clowns4Justice – creates a real sense of authenticity to the content, blurring the lines between parody and reality.
“This video highlights how, using the industry’s most talented individuals, S3 are able to create the most powerful content, regardless of the advertising platform.”
This latest project further enforces what has already been a standout year for the Cardiff-based agency, who moved into new premises in Cardiff’s Central Square flagship regeneration development. CEO Jones was also named ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the 2016 Cardiff Business Awards.
