At the start of 2017, Rooster was appointed by Mystudenthalls.com, the original dedicated student halls search engine, with a clear objective: to get the attention of students by generating coverage in key digital channels they’re likely to read. Our client’s dream was to be on sites like MTV and Cosmo – and we were ready to take on that challenge!

First, we found Mystudenthalls.com’s most amazing student accommodation options and compiled a roundup of the ‘most instagrammable’ student halls to showcase the site’s high quality product. This secured coverage on Cosmopolitan online, Daily Mail and MTV.co.uk (as well as being featured on its Snapchat channel which has over 5m views each day.)

Next, we secured more hits with the Mail online and MTV by seeding some amazing money saving tips that could help people save up to £1,000 a month.

Next, with Results Day and Clearing on the horizon, we wanted to target the broadsheets (read by the parents of our target audience – aka the ultimate decision-makers on where their children might choose to live at uni). We liaised closely with the journalists writing the special university guides and secured comment from Dan Roberts, MD and Founder of Mystudenthalls.com, in The Daily Telegraph’s Parents Guide to University as well as tips on finding the best student accommodation in the Times Higher Education.

Looking to the future, we undertook research into what student accommodation might look like in the future (think AI receptionists in buildings that detect maintenance problems before they occur) and Times Higher Education loved it so much they ran a dedicated article.

Our targeted coverage has put Mystudenthalls.com on the map and we’re looking forward to propelling the company’s profile even further in 2018.
