National Trust for Scotland: Augmented reality for the cultural heritage sector

03/07/2018

Insight:

With over 100 areas of national importance to protect and preserve across Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) is tasked with bringing Scottish heritage alive for all generations. Augmented reality is the perfect way to bring the physical environment to life with engaging digital content, and the prestigious Brodie Castle was chosen by the NTS to receive an AR makeover to help encourage more young families to visit.

Output:

The introduction of an innovative AR campaign, broadcast on Engine Creative’s own Reydar app, allows guests to engage and interact with the castle’s mascot Brodie the bunny. Visitors are able to take photos with the animated character that can be easily shared across social media, creating a buzz around Brodie Castle, and the NTS in general.

Results:

The National Trust for Scotland has shaken up the cultural heritage sector by providing a new way to involve younger audiences with Scottish history. This experience has huge potential for future developments, not just within Brodie Castle but across all of the Trust’s locations, and the tourism industry in general.
