Peg Turbo Race-Off at NikeTown
Last year Nike Town London hosted their first in store racing experience coinciding with the launch of their best Pegasus shoe yet the Nike Zoom Peg Turbo. This shoe builds upon the Nike new foam core technology and alongside being a high performance based training shoe it also look looks super cool.
Asked by Nike’s running team to come up with an idea that involved taking a 15m sprint around Nike Towns ground floor area we drew our inspiration from the World Indoor Championships 60 meters and introduced the idea of using Crashmats in at the end of the Peg Turbo race off. Not only was this a great way to make such a short burst race safe but it was actually was one of the most fun aspects of the activation. People lined up to take part and crowded around this ipad controlled activation to watch the results and have their chance to get on the leaderboard.
OMM designed the overall concept and consumer experience strategy. Created an Ipad app to enable signup, drive Nike+ membership and a IR sensor/laser gate to capture the fastest times on an LED leaderboard in store.
This system all ran via a centralised server which captured times, user data and sent off participation emails so people had a record on how fast they ran.
Over to course of a week over 2800 people took part and more than 12000 spectators.
