27 March 2023 London’s Southbank has a new attraction: a giant helter skelter in the shape of one of McDonald’s famous cups. The ambitious brand activation, was to launch this week’s Winning Sips promotion, which will see millions of prizes up for grabs on the brand’s iconic cold drinks cups, was built with help from OLIVER – the only company in the world that exclusives designs, builds and runs in-house agencies and marketing ecosystems for brands. Including McDonald’s UK and Ireland.

The ride aims to bring customers’ winning feeling to life every time they scoop one of thousands prizes in McDonald’s new Winning Sips promotion. Encouraging fans to savour every sip of their drink, prizes include limited-edition merch, McDonald’s menu favourites and £10,000 in cash.

Louise Page, Head of Consumer Communications and Partnerships at the restaurant chain, said: “It’s been a challenging few years so we are excited to bring a little lift to customers this Spring with our new Winning Sips promotion. And a big campaign, deserves a big launch. I am very grateful to OLIVER and their team for giving us an unforgettable activation on the Southbank today. Definitely a brand-first, turning our cold cup into a Helter Skelter but it’s been great to see the reaction from brave sliders and passers-by!”

McDonald’s helter skelter will reside on the Southbank’s Observation Point on Monday 27th March. Free rides will be available between 10am – 4pm, with a chance to win on the spot prizes.
