Tales from a Team S3 Toddler

One of the newest members of our agency’s pride, Beth, joins S3’s burgeoning content team as a Content Assistant.

With her finger firmly on the pulse of social media and popular culture, Beth is able to provide relevant, disruptive content and coverage for S3’s clients.

And here, in her first blog post, she reveals how life has been during her first month at the agency. Take it away, Beth…

If you’d looked at my Google search history back in February, there were plenty of searches along the lines of:

“What not to do at a new job.”

“How to act normal around new colleagues when you’re not.”

“How to make the perfect cup of tea.”

After about an hour at S3, however, I realised that everything I’d researched was a huge waste of time, and that I needn’t have worried. I’ve never come across such an incredibly hilarious and hardworking team of talented individuals.

In today’s world, you don’t encounter many people who can genuinely say they are passionate about the company they work for. But at S3, everyone loves being here.
And that’s what makes it such a special place.

Working on the PR, social and content team alongside Bevs, Sophie, Becky and Ben has been an absolute blast. I look forward to coming to work every day, and am always excited and ready to see what will be thrown at me. I actually don’t think I’ve settled into a group where I’ve been able to act my true self so quickly.

The incredibly warm welcome - coupled with the stress-reducing, fun work environment - has left me with no other choice but to settle in well, and start as I mean to go on. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been presented with a variety of entertaining opportunities.

During my first day I had a meeting in a ball pit. I mean, how many people can say they’ve done that?! I’ve also witnessed Sophie rollerblading around the office, been invited to play pool with the media team, and even started a band with the agency’s Head of Digital, Hoppo.

I’ve been the subject of the dreaded #S3ScareCam too, which was...well, fun.

I’m grateful to be surrounded by a group of like-minded people who maintain the perfect “work hard, play hard” balance. Although every day is different, there is guaranteed banter, support and respect.

If you were to walk into the Lion’s Den without any prior knowledge of S3’s structure, you wouldn’t be able to identify the managers.

Everybody sits together, gets on so well and communicates on an equal level, despite any possible differences. I’m the youngest staff member here, and it doesn’t set me apart at all. There’s a strong sense of family culture that has been nurtured so well by our CEO, Matt.

Towards the end of 2017, I set myself some New Year’s resolutions. One was to be more organised - I now buy my train tickets the night before instead of on the day. I can check that resolution off my list. Another was to settle into a job in my chosen industry and start my career.

And, in joining S3, there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ve ticked that box, too. In fact, it’s been one of the best choices I’ve ever made. To anybody that’s looking to start up in this industry, S3 are well and truly at the top of their game - they stand head and shoulders above the rest for a reason.

If you’re looking for a walled-off cubicle where you’ll probably only speak to colleagues (that you don’t even know much about) at lunch, then S3 isn’t for you.

But if you’re looking for a work environment where you’ll be challenged; where 90s hip-hop is blasted every day; where detailed personal stories about waxing nightmares are discussed; and where there is a hand moisturiser appreciation club - then you’ll fit in well.

We brand ourselves as disruptive because we mean it. We go against the grain, and wouldn’t do it any other way. And I’m truly thankful to be a part of it all.

So Team S3, thank you for welcoming me with open arms.
