McCann Worldgroup was recognized as “Agency Network of the Year” at the Golden Drum Festival, Central and Eastern Europe’s most prestigious advertising festival, for the sixth time in seven years and for the 4th consecutive year.
The Advertiser of The Year title was awarded to Ikea Tel Aviv, for the ThisAbles Campaign developed by McCann Tel Aviv, which won 3 Grand Prix (including Best Campaign of WHY and GOOD sections), 4 Gold Awards, 1 Silver Award. The Agency Network of the Year honour is the most prestigious award of the festival, given to the agency with the most cumulative winning points for its entries. This year McCann Worldgroup won with 5 Grand Prix, 5 Golden Drums, 10 Silver Drums and a total of 19 shortlists. In 2019, the winners and finalists came from 5 countries in the CEE region – Israel, Romania, Czech Republic, Italy and Poland – for work for a range of leading local and global brands including Ikea, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Vodafone, Ubrew, KFC and Regina Maria Hospitals.
“The dedication of our teams from across multiple markets in Central & Eastern Europe, really demonstrates what it takes to be a winning network. Our teams are passionate about building partnerships with great clients to deliver creative excellence with real commercial results. This trust and collaboration is what leads to these exceptional consistent results. This is yet another remarkable milestone - in a year of remarkable achievements. Following on from last week’s news that McCann Worldgroup was named European Agency Network of the Year at the 2019 European Effie Awards – we can truly say we are the most creative and effective network for our clients today, something we are all exceptionally proud of, “Pablo Walker, President, McCann Worldgroup, Europe.
“Our story in this region is one of a creative culture of diversity, collaboration and constantly pushing our limits – which enables constant creative excellence. Being Network Of The Year for the 4th time in a row now and setting a new record for the festival is something we are so proud of. This isn’t about just one year of success, or only one rockstar country, or one happy client and blockbuster campaign. This is about winning across multiple markets with key clients. It’s getting tougher and tougher to win each year, which makes me even prouder of our creative strength across this region, when the bar is this high, ” said Catalin Dobre, Regional CD McCann Worldgroup, CEE & CCO McCann Worldgroup Romania.
“Winning the Network of the Year title is testament to the stellar creative performance we had this year in Europe, with campaigns from Tel Aviv and Bucharest leading the way, but also Prague, Belgrade and Poland winning with fresh work. What's even better is wining with hard work on big clients, and I’m proud to see IKEA winning client of the year. Finally, winning this title for the fourth time in a row it’s no small feat, especially going against famous campaigns awarded on top global award shows. This is can only be attributed to the great creative culture we have managed to build in this region,” said Adrian Botan, Global Executive Director, and President Creative Leadership Council.
This follows a year which has seen the network in Europe dominate to an unprecedented degree with a range of other major awards including EMEA Regional Network of Year 2019 by Cannes Lions Festival of Advertising, EMEA Agency Network of the Year by Campaign Magazine; #1 Network of the Year at the IPA Effectiveness Awards and 2019 European Network of the Year, WARC; in addition to numerous other local industry accolades across key European markets
