The Guardian Bookshop required an entire website revamp in a short time frame, setting themselves up for their busiest trading period of the year, Christmas. They knew the project would have lots of technical implications and required an agency with extensive technical knowledge. They approached Lab after hearing about our Magento expertise.
We delivered a top spec Magento site in only a few months, uploaded hundreds of thousands of products into their online catalogue and optimised the site ready for the Christmas period.
The Guardian Bookshop had clear objectives of wanting to increase sales volume and revenue, increase average order value, reduce checkout abandonment, and improve conversion rates.
Within the first four months after launched, we've seen the year-on-year stats have gone through the roof:
- An 81% increase in online sales
- Average online order value increased by 15%
- Overall conversion rate was up 25%
- Mobile conversion rate was up 98%
- Checkout abandonment down by 50%
The results exceeded all expectations, helping the Bookshop team to win the internal Good to Great Award at The Guardian.
