iCrossing named as a Top Ten Family Friendly SME by the Working Families charity

Digital marketing agency, iCrossing today announces that, for the second year running, it has been named as a Top Family Friendly SME (small to medium enterprises) at the Working Families Top Employers Awards.

The agency’s working families practices were also benchmarked against those of larger corporates such as Barclays and Amex. Excitingly, iCrossing made the list of Top 30 Employers for Working Families – the only SME to do so. (The award organisers do not disclose the exact position of each company in the league tables).

When it comes to families, one in four (24%) of iCrossing’s staff is now a parent and as a result the agency has introduced a number of new schemes to help them balance work and family life. Flexible working, Parent Mentors – to help new mums and dads ease back into the world of work after time off looking after their babies - and lie-ins on children’s birthdays are just a few of the benefits open to parents at iCrossing. The Business also recognises that flexible working is something that all employees can benefit from. Line managers receive training on how best to manage their teams flexibly, so that all staff can achieve a happy work/life balance. This can be for a multitude of reasons and is not limited to parents and carers, for example, studies outside of work, training for a marathon, or a hobby.

Rachel Collier, HR Director at iCrossing said: “The key to achieving a work life balance that is right for our people and for the company is flexibility, on both sides. But for this to work there has to be trust. Companies must trust their staff to manage their time effectively to get their jobs done well and staff must feel that their employers understand that work isn’t the only demand on their time.”

She adds: “We are delighted to have been singled out as one of the top companies in the country for working families. And to have achieved this two years running is something we are exceptionally proud of. Helping our staff enjoy a healthy work life balance is something we feel very strongly about and we believe that our commitment here has helped us strengthen staff loyalty exponentially in recent years.”

iCrossing works hard to offer all its staff a healthy work life balance. Earlier this year the agency launched iCare, a new programme that offers all staff a range of benefits to ensure they have the support they need to achieve this.

The Top Employers for Working Families Awards recognise those businesses that offer the best quality of work-life balance and career development. In their own words, the Working Families charity explains that the awards ‘identify those progressive employers who recognise and leverage the powerful links between flexibility and agile working, emotional engagement, wellbeing, and high-performance.’
