Croud welcomes Jon King as first Group General Manager

by Irene Kim

February 11, 2022

The global, full-service digital marketing agency Croud has appointed Jon King, former CEO of Performics, as Group General Manager. King, who is taking on this newly created position with a global remit, will be focusing on the integration of Croud's recent acquisitions, particularly VERB brands, supporting management teams, and helping to scale the business. He will join the Executive team and report into Luke Smith, co-founder and Global CEO.

This appointment comes on the back of an outstanding 2021 that saw the agency deliver impressive new business performance, culminating in winning the paid search remit for Compare the Market, and ending the year announcing the acquisition of the luxury performance marketing agency VERB Brands in the UK and data & analytics agency impakt Advisors in the US.

King brings a wealth of experience to the role and a reputation for delivering profitable growth, building high-performing teams and driving digital transformation. He is well-versed in the space in which Croud operates; in addition to five years at Performics, he was Managing Director at digital agency POSSIBLE (now Wunderman Thompson) for five years, and has also worked client-side at Virgin Media.

King has been working for Croud in a consultancy capacity for the past year, but rapid expansion created the need for additional senior support.

Jon King said: “Croud is at an incredibly exciting juncture following the acquisition of VERB Brands so it’s a great time to come on board. Having spent time working with the team and getting to know the business over the past year, I have seen for myself that the model is truly differentiated and I know what a talented, engaged and focused team I am joining.”

Luke Smith, CEO and co-founder at Croud, added: “It’s a real coup to have brought someone with Jon’s capability and credibility into our business, and having consulted for us for a while it became abundantly clear that he’s a natural fit with Croud’s ambition and culture. Literally everyone at Croud (and now VERB) has good things to say about working with Jon, and he also provides a level of know-how and experience that helps me out personally.”
