Challenge

Bamboo needed to improve the quality of applicants for their loans, which target the bad credit market. Bamboo was receiving thousands of applications through paid search that weren’t proceedable due to a lack of guarantor meaning wasted investment for bamboo and a poor customer experience.

A lot of events that establish whether an applicant is successful occurs offline, making it difficult to understand where along the online journey, an applicant could be deemed successful or not.

Audience

People with a poor credit rating who have a guarantor in place to help them secure finance.

What We Did

We evolved Bamboo’s approach from consumer finance to a predictive modelling company, by focusing on their vast historical data to predict who will be eligible for a loan based on their online behaviour to a keyword level. We utilised their underwriting data used to predict risk, to predict media performance.

We collated data from the online system to back end servers to analyse the entire customer journey on and offline to pinpoint nuances in the journey that fueled the successful applicants. By being so precise, we enabled Bamboo Loans to target viable customers in future, invest in channels that target successful applications and prevent wasting budget and the poor user experience for those that would not be successful.

Results

o By applying this approach we increased the conversion rate through to successful application by 44%.


o 3.8 times more revenue and a reduction in cost per account open of 62%.


o 2.2 times the volume of brand searches.


o 2 times the volume of brand conversions.


o 2.35 times the revenue through brand because the overall quality of applicants was higher.
