Dear readers,

Every year at Cannes Lions, we come together to celebrate the world's best ideas and the people who make them happen. This issue of The Drum is dedicated to them: the makers, the doers, the builders, the dreamers, the optimists and, as we're in France, let's throw in the provocateurs.

Their ideas change the conversation about what's possible in this extraordinary world we live in. Ideas that are designed not only to reach people but to connect meaningfully with them, evoke a reaction, build communities and move them to the actions that drive business forward.

As is always the case in Cannes there will be much talk of change, and this issue features the people who embrace these changes head-on and accept the future of out business will not look like its past. The velocity of disruption across every area of the marketing, media and advertising ecosystem is real and relentless, and we need to create new ways of working together to accelerate our collective learning.

In a connected world, the power of creativity to unlock value and for businesses is just being realized. The shift to mobile has helped companies create meaningful connections with individuals. That's why creativity has never been more important. All businesses now have an opportunity to be global, with world-class creative at everyone's fingertips.

We want to work with our brand, agency, publisher and media partners to advance how people and businesses connect. From the world's smallest companies to its largest global brands, creativity and community are more valuable than ever. We're excited to use this issue to celebrate the leaders and organizations shaping the future of our industry.

Sheryl, Nicola and Mark.
