NHL star tweets for help

What would we do without Twitter, eh? Well, I’ll tell you what NHL star Joel Ward would be doing. He’d still be stuck in a toilet (maybe).

The Washington Capitals forward managed to lock himself in a bathroom stall on Saturday morning, and so turned to Twitter for help.

Hotel staff managed to free him a staggering 45 minutes after his dilemma began, using a ladder. His adventures were, obviously, documented in detailed by his kind teammates. The question on my mind is: how the flip did he manage to take a picture of himself inside the toilet if he was stuck in there alone?! But that’s by the by.Google's taking overYou’d be forgiven for thinking that Apple was leading the smartphone market, but research has revealed that a whopping 92 per cent of smartphone owners use at least one Google mobile app. This is unsurprising, as Google is king of the internets, and we all remember the Apple Maps fiasco.Netflix nails itNetflix is doing what all brands should be doing on Twitter: being funny and keeping it real. Netflix has been responding to people mentioning it online with razor sharp wit.Nice one.
Instagram ads. This time it's for realUS users of Instagram look like they’re going to be the first ones hit with Instagram’s irritating adverts, and according to a poll on Mashable, they’re not very happy about it.The majority of people claim to be ‘disappointed’ by the new addition, and I for one hope Instagram has the same feeling of shame you get when your parents tell you they’re disappointed in you for being caught drinking a lot of Jack Daniel's at school aged 17. Just me?17 per cent of those polled claimed that they were ‘furious’ about the new ads, so it will be interesting to see if their rage means they have to leave Instagram for good and the app sees a dip in users after the introduction of ads. I doubt it.
