Paddy Power has cemented its reputation for irreverent sporting humor by turning its sarcastic talents toward Premier League club Arsenal.

The Irish bookmakers are sparing the Reds blushes by promoting a tongue-in-cheek ‘confessional interview’, in which Gunners legends Charlie Nicholas, Nigel Winterburn, Kevin Campbell and Ray Parlour discuss throwing the league because of Piers Morgan.

Ahead of a keenly anticipated clash with Manchester City in two weeks, the spoof report sees the stars wrestle with their consciousness, keenly aware that a title win will give noted Arsenal fanatic Piers Morgan a Cheshire Cat grin.

Faced with this nightmarish prospect the former players suggest title glory is not worth the happiness of one polarizing media personality.

Parlour said: “I’d rather Arsenal never win another trophy than to see Piers Morgan happy and smiling. Honestly, I’d do something to get a game abandoned to stop us from winning the title now. Dress up as a dog and run on the pitch or something.”

Played for laughs the skit proves too much for Nicholas, who vomits into a bucket off-camera at the mere thought of the onerous responsibility held by the club.

Rachael Kane of Paddy Power explained: “Arsenal have been so impressive this season, not even the Kim Kardashian curse couldn’t stop them. But there are bigger things on the line here if Arsenal manages to pull this off. We could be looking down the barrel of a tsunami of smugness from their most loathed fan, Piers Morgan. The thought is too much for some to stomach… particularly Charlie Nicolas as it turns out.”

Morgan has raised the hackles of Arsenal fans for a remarkable volte-face on Spanish ace Mikel Arteta, lashing the player with effusive praise after previously calling on him to quit while pleading ‘forgiveness’.
