Burger King takes a bite out of Doritos by hijacking their ads
Burger King’s heated love-in with Doritos, initiated by flame-grilling one of its billboards, has been sealed by a second wave of hijacked ads.
The burger brand’s playful snack duet follows the April 1 revelation that its chicken fries would henceforth be coated in crushed Doritos for extra crunch, complete with a dusting of Chilli Heatwave flavoring to pack some heat.
The dubious timing sent fast food fans into a social media tizzy in an attempt to figure out whether this was just an April Fools’ joke or something more serious, with thousands weighing on whether the combo was a good idea.
Now, a further campaign by Splendid Communications has dispelled the fog of suggestion. In a fun twist, Burger King UK has hijacked Doritos Chilli Heatwave ads with post-it notes asking the chip brand to slide into its DMs.

Katie Evans from Burger King UK said: “The launch of Doritos Chilli Heatwave Chicken Fries is the latest new product development in our collaboration with Doritos and we’re very excited to bring it to Burger King restaurants nationwide.”
Burger King has shown itself to be head and shoulders above its rivals by presenting King Charles with a commemorative crown on an official visit to Germany.
