It’s almost too late to enter advertising’s most controversial awards show
The deadline for The Drum’s Chip Shop Awards is fast approaching (April 6), so if you have a creative idea that you know would never fly by your clients, think fast.

2022’s Best Outdoor winner by DA Creative Studio
The awards show has no rules and no boundaries meaning the possibilities for entries are endless. Sometimes they’re ingenious, and sometimes, they’re toe-curdling. It’s important the industry has a home for the ideas that are too good to abandon.
This year’s jury sees industry heavy-weight, Wayne Deakin, who currently resides at Wolff Olins as global principal of creative. He is joined by a group of cunning, sharp-minded creatives including;
-
Gabriel Cheung, global executive creative director, TBWA\Chiat\Day New York
-
Sarah Lefkowith, creative director, Creature London
-
Yoky Pandowo, associate creative director, Octagon APAC
-
Ann Wixley, executive creative director, Wavemaker
-
Jhona Gibson, creative director, VMLY&R Lima
-
VJ Anand, executive creative director EMEA and global, Vaynermedia EMEA
-
Raoul Panes, chief creative officer, Leo Burnett Manila and Publicis Groupe Philippines
Deakin says: “If I was an alien looking at earth over the last year, I would say – WTF is going on? War, rising costs, uncertainty. So, what I need right now is an opportunity to bring people together to make people smile, laugh and think with the power of creativity – cue the Chip Shop Awards.”
On what he hopes to see from the entrants this year: “I am looking forward to seeing ideas and work (hopefully from young rising stars too) that make me laugh, smile or question. Ideas that rock the status quo and even leave you with a healthy dose of disbelief.
“Hopefully, borderless and timeless creativity leaves an impact in these crazy times. We need a bit more of that in the world to bring us all together.”
So if you think you’ve got what it takes to stand above the rest and have created some outright original ads, then make sure you take a look at what categories are open to you.
And if you need some inspiration on what to enter, take a look at last year’s winners.
Enter before April 6 to be in with a chance to take home one of our coveted Chips.
