Sports streaming platform FuboTV is leveraging Kevin Garnett, Mark Sanchez and memes to introduce audiences to its new name: Fubo.

From “The Big Ticket,”to “butt punt,” Fubo is speaking a language all sports fans can understand in its latest brand campaign.

Comprising three 30-second spots, the campaign features retired NBA star Kevin Garnett and retired NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez to alert fans about the sports streaming platform’s rebrand from FuboTV to simply Fubo (or as the commercial calls it, “Fubooooooooo“).

The cheeky campaign is laden with sports memes. In the first spot, Garnett proposes that Fubo calls itself “The Big Kick it,“ referencing his nickname, ‘The Big Ticket.’

The second spot references an infamous football game from 2022 that saw the Miami Dolphins’ Thomas Morstead attempt a punt – only to be blocked by teammate Trent Sherfield’s backside – resulting in a meme that became popularly known as “butt punt.”

The third and final spot reprises a meme that not only sports fans will recognize, but pretty much anyone who has used the internet: it centers on Bob Ross, the painter known for his landscape work and soothing voice.

Ryan Reynolds’ creative agency Maximum Effort developed the campaign on behalf of Fubo. According to comments left on Reynolds’ YouTube channel, the fans seem to get it. One user even wrote: “Ryan Reynolds is the type of guy to make a meme out of an ad.”
