Barilla al Bronzo has taken a leaf out of the Disney playbook of live-action remakes of animated classics to present a highly romanticized take on Italy's national dish.

The pasta brand has taken the Lady and the Tramp to heart for a modern retelling that goes big on sentimentality for a dramatized recreation of the famous spaghetti-sharing scene.

Coinciding with Disney’s 100th anniversary the homage includes a guest appearance by two Michelin-starred chefs who cook up a perfect pasta dish for the loved-up couple.

An encounter between a well-heeled woman and a roguish vagabond on a railway bridge leads to a grimy back alley to devour two ‘specials’ with an impromptu candlelit meal.

Ilaria Lodigiani, VP of global marketing at Barilla, said: “The Al Bronzo range is about upgrading the quality of life while enabling consumers to find the same spark for adventure as the one captured in our reimagining of the Lady and the Tramp. As a food brand, we want the energy being served in plates of our pasta to help elevate the dining experience and create memorable meals for everyone to enjoy.”

Developed by Publicis Italy (Le Pub), the heartwarming tale is born out of a Barilla survey, indicating that 55% of people wish to spend more time with family and friends, with 29% yearning to spend more quality time with loved ones.
