The month-long period of fasting is expected to start on March 22 and will be observed worldwide. These are the best campaigns marking the festival.

Each year, following the sighting of the moon over Mecca, Muslims participate in fasting, prayer, reflection and community activities to mark the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Globally, brands have joined in the festivities with their ad campaigns. Typically themes of family, love and togetherness have been prevalent.

Adidas: From Sunrise to Sunset by Obeya

Many sports enthusiasts want to keep up their fitness regime during Ramadan but don’t have the information to do so. Adidas wants to highlight that people shouldn’t have to choose between fasting or working out during the Holy month. In this spot, Swedish footballer Nabil Bahoui and boxer Zahra Al-Mougrabi share how they do it.

Ikea: Togetherness, Assembled by Grey Dubai

This heartwarming ad features a young boy trying to bring a smile to his family's faces. As he waits to break fast, his mother asks him to help set the Iftar table. Each of his relatives sits down at the table and realizes that the thoughtful kid has added a personal touch to each of their seats.

Coca-Cola: Break Differences by WPP

In this spot from drinks giant Coca-Cola, we see a town come to life through shadows. Viewers follow people's silhouettes as they dry washing, laugh and walk around together. As the sun sets, the ad ends with a family sitting down to break fast together.

National Foods Limited: National Condiments

This Pakistani food brand has been around since the 70s and started out as a spice company. In its latest ad, viewers see a range of colorful foods and sauces bouncing around a kitchen waiting to be used, before ending with a family sitting around a table, enjoying their meal. The spot has an original soundtrack by Mohammed Ali Shehki.
