The animal welfare org warns that the meat and dairy industries are making the future unlivable.

In the hit show, The Last of Us, a global fungus outbreak has transformed humans into zombies. Coinciding with the first season’s finale this week, Peta’s latest ad hints at an apocalyptic future where humans suffer the consequences of their own over-consumption.

Peta points to the agricultural industries of meat, dairy and fishing as key drivers of the climate emergency, citing The United Nations, which has said that raising animals for food is “one of the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global.”

In the spot, a young girl attempts to navigate the ruins of a dystopian city, as an ominous reminder that the ongoing crisis could well prove disastrous for younger generations. The ad asks, “Are you a bad parent?” hinting at how the choices made by adults will affect their children in the future.

“Animal agriculture is killing the planet,” the spot concludes. “Do better, feed them vegan.

“No parent wants to doom their children to an uninhabitable planet, which is why Peta is urging everyone to go vegan before it’s too late,” the organization has said.
