WeTransfer is harnessing its digital arts platform WePresent to connect art, film and theatre performance with new media and interactive design.

Under the guest curatorship of podcaster and artist Russell Tovey, the partnership will surface original works through three projects highlighting the work of LGBTQIA+ artists – including a feature-length documentary.

Tovey remarked: “With detail, care and a very unique nurturing approach to every project, I am able to tell stories about artists who mean so much to me, in the hope that they can matter to everyone.”

Holly Fraser, editor-in-chief of WePresent, added: “He (Tovey) shares WeTransfer’s belief that the power of creativity can truly change the world, and I hope that through this curatorship on WePresent and the projects that form it, we can further the conversation around the importance of inclusivity and reflect on some of the great artists who have paved the way for this to continue in the industry.”

Focusing predominantly on Derek Jarman and David Robilliard, British queer artists who died from Aids, the curatorship sees WeTransfer play its part to promote emerging and overlooked talent via its WePresent arts platform.

The three projects set for the coming months include Life is Excellent, a feature-length documentary in which Tovey explores the life and work of his art heroes. This will complement Blue Now, a series of live performances and an artist series in which Tovey features the work of favored artists.
