Ad of the Day: Nando’s ushers in sonic logo with nugget-shock Bukayo Saka
The campaign was brought to life by Jonathan Entwistle, creator of the hit Netflix show The End Of The F***ing World.
To launch its latest brand platform and introduce its first sonic logo, chicken restaurant Nando’s has just dropped a high-energy film to tingle tastebuds.
‘This Must Be the Place’ sees a group of friends on a bus retell what went down at Nando’s the previous evening. Highlights include one of the group asking if it serves nuggets, which causes football star Bukayo Saka to spin in his chair; a woman on a date getting the ’ick’ when her boyfriend can only handle the medium spice sauce; a girl mixing all the soft drinks together in the one cup; and a table of grans taking part in a game of hot wing roulette.
Jonathan Entwistle, who directed the spot, commented: “Nando’s is such a unique place. As a restaurant, it obviously has its own distinct personality, but as a brand, it offers the opportunity to be really playful and cool. I wanted to make sure this energy ran through the film. Layering up the Nando’s stories with the really distinct characters from the creative allowed me to really nail a tone that is so perfectly Nando’s.”
The campaign will be amplified across owned social channels, TV & BVOD, cinema, out-of-home (OOH) and radio.
