Kooky ad from eBay Italy heroes Kenny the Cat
E-commerce company eBay is opening the eyes of audiences to the value of refurbished and second-hand products through the eyes of an out-of-control feline.
‘Director’s Cat’ is a kooky Italian TV campaign from the creatives at Dude, which provides a fresh take on buying and selling eBay journeys by telling transaction stories in reverse.
Centered on a young woman giving an acceptance speech at a documentary awards, the film quickly descends into furry madness as the antics of Kenny the Cat are credited with creating the documentary.
Vito Pace, chief marketing officer at eBay Italy, said: “This episode opens up a new phase of eBay’s storytelling: we felt the need to tell the infinite possibilities that eBay offers to its community. Nourishing the passions of our users is what makes us unique.”
Lorenzo Picchiotti, chief creative officer and partner at Dude, added: “A year after the launch of the platform ’Inspired by an eBay story’, we are proud to introduce this new chapter, which represents a new evolution of our creative format. This evolution brings a shift in terms of direction and narrative structure and more and more focus on the stories that are born thanks to the passions of eBay users, at the center of the entire storytelling.”
Encompassing digital, social and home the non-linear narrative extends the ’Inspired by an eBay Story’ platform. This follows a Love Island partnership to promote circular fashion.
