Samsung has enlisted Academy Award-winning writer and director Charlie Kaufman to create a short film using the Galaxy S22 Phone.

The director, best known for his films Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Synecdoche, New York, worked with Director of Photography Chayse Irvin to create a “Kaufmanesque love letter to New York City” for the film titled Jackals and Fireflies.

The film aims to showcase the Galaxy camera and highlight the ease with which anyone can shoot and share spectacular movies.

Kaufman described the filming experience as an “effective approach” adding that “the finished product is beautiful”.

He is the latest director to join Samsung’s Filmed #withGalaxy campaign, which invites visionary directors to demonstrate the potential of the Galaxy S Series phone cameras.

Previously the brand has partnered with British director Joe Wright who created the short film Princess and Peppernose and emerging Chinese director Sha Mo who created Kids of Paradise.
