Why Buxton Water supported London Marathon runners

Buxton Water won in the Best Use of Facebook category at The Drum’s Social Media Awards in 2022. Here we find out what went into the project.

As the official water sponsor of the 2022 TCS London Marathon, Buxton Water aimed to support the nation’s runners on their marathon journey.

The idea

In 2022, Buxton gave people the opportunity to share their own stories of resilience for a chance to win one of eight places in the TCS London Marathon. Out of 5,567 applicants, the eight selected winners were chosen to participate in the race and become part of Buxton's 'Rise Up Runners' team.

To further drive awareness of the campaign, in the days leading up to the race, the brand followed the training of the runners and shared their stories through social media to help to support them and their goals.

To celebrate the final countdown to the London Marathon, Buxton then shared the incredible athlete's achievements and the reasons why they are taking part in the marathon.

The results

The Facebook campaign ran over a four-week period, through multiple creatives and placements.
