SkyBound Rescuer, a company that uses drones for public safety projects, partnered with digital innovation brand Multivitamin Group to launch the 'Using Drone Tech to Save Lives' campaign. It aimed to reduce the time and resources required for helicopter rescue flights. The resulting product blended hardware and software to enable emergency rescue crews to make helicopter rescue operations more efficient and successful.

The brief

In helicopter rescue missions, every minute can mean the difference between life and death. SkyBound Rescuer and Multivitamin Group set out on a mission to minimize the time required to execute a successful helicopter rescue by deploying drone technology to locate people in need of rescue. The brands also needed to create a technology that would enable the user to make the most well-informed and strategically sound decisions possible while operating in high-stress situations.

The idea

The brands set out to develop a tech interface built around the following pillars: considered action, speed, accuracy, instant feedback, positive affirmation, predictive restrictions, simplicity of the interface, and explanations and prompts. Each of these, it was believed, would contribute to an intuitive user experience and to a product that would reliably facilitate fast, safe and successful helicopter rescue missions.

The results

The technology successfully reduced the time required to locate missing persons by an average of more than four hours. SkyBound Rescuer ultimately aims to establish drone deployment stations around the world, leading to a standardized and unified global search-and-rescue infrastructure.
