The Drum's Open Mic picked up the coveted 'Digital Product of the Year' at the 2022 PPA Independent Publisher Awards on Friday. But what is Open Mic? And why is it such a world-beating product? Here's everything you need to know.

For a product that exists solely to provide a platform for other businesses to shine, the tables were turned on Friday night when the Open Mic team took to the stage at The PPA Independent Publisher Awards.

Presented by Never Mind the Buzzcocks legend, Angela Barnes, the award for Digital Product of the Year was given to Open Mic due to the membership product's, “adaptability to new market conditions, impressive revenue growth and a fantastic knowledge of their target audience.”

In the past year, Open Mic has grown its community to over 70 members, extending to some of the biggest media and marketing names, such as Meta, LinkedIn and JCDecaux.

With 82% of marketers leveraging content marketing and millions of pieces of content published online each day, it's never been harder to cut through the noise. But with the ability to publish their thought-leadership directly to The Drum’s homepage, Open Mic members have benefitted from The Drum’s vast audience to get the engagement that matters.

Earlier this year, the product also launched its super successful ‘Ask an Expert’ series – a series of short-form social media videos, where members provide their expertise on the industry’s hottest questions.
