This week, The UK National Lottery released a Love Actually-style Christmas ad, Meta Reality Labs dropped its first-ever 3D billboard in London and Bleacher Report took major inspiration from Toy Story in an animated spot.

The National Lottery: Christmas Love Story by Adam & Eve/DDB

Directed by Oscar-winner Tom Hooper, the ad told of a chance encounter between two people who meet on a train and exchange a phone number on the back of a lottery ticket.

Meta: Wish For Extraordinary by Meta Reality Labs

Meta Reality Labs developed a holiday campaign to promote Meta Quest 2, the virtual reality (VR) headset.

Bleacher Report: Unreal World Cup

The sports culture site drew inspiration from the hit Disney film Toy Story to mark its coverage of the football tournament.

WWF: A Flammable Planet by Nomint

The wilderness preservation organization used real fire and stop-motion techniques to hit home the devastating effects of wildfires on the planet.

KFC: Run Walk Run by Mother

As the dark and cold winter nights draw in, fast-food chain KFC promoted its delivery service. In a series of idents appearing during ITV’s coverage of the Fifa World Cup, viewers see people struggling to get their food home in time.

Peta: Toby the Turkey by Dream Farm

Peta’s holiday campaign told the tale of Toby the Turkey, who is thrown off an abattoir-bound truck by his mother to save his life. The cute bird ends up being taken in by a loving family, becoming integrated into their lives.

Posten: Father Christmas and Mother Earth by POL

In this ad, viewers saw the dynamics between the two characters as they navigate their differences. Father Christmas is intent on bringing as much joy to people as possible through gift-giving, whereas Mother Earth views overconsumption as problematic.

The Spanish National Lottery: Vika by Leo Burnett Madrid

Each Christmas, the Spanish National Lottery releases a much-anticipated ad campaign, and this year there were three separate films to enjoy.

The spot ‘Vika’ was a tale of friendship between two co-workers. The protagonist Vika has recently moved to the country and doesn’t speak much of the language. She and her friendly new workmate communicate as best as they can, and eventually the pair decide to go halves on a lottery ticket.

Patagonia: The Art of Activism

Patagonia released a short film exploring the story of a fisherman and his local community in Tuscany, Italy. The story detailed the harm done by bottom trawling to marine areas, showing how individual action can help protect the seas.

Little Caesars: Introducing Turkey 2.0 by McKinney

Little Caesars put pizza on the table this Thanksgiving instead of dry turkey.
