The retailer has crunched the numbers to show that the cost of a good night’s sleep is just 15 pence, rising to a little over a pound for a full week of blissful slumber.

Based on the lifetime five-year cost of a £245 double mattress, the figure is being touted by the bed specialist to impress upon consumers that investing in your nocturnal health won’t give you sleepless nights worrying about the bills.

Bensons for Beds chief executive Nick Collard said: “We understand buying a new bed and mattress can seem like a big investment – especially in the current climate when families are thinking about rising prices on energy, fuel and food.

“But the right mattress is an investment that, on a price-per-night basis, is highly affordable. Not only is it good value for money, but it brings all the health and mental wellbeing benefits that come with a good night’s sleep.”

In addition to its focus on value, Bensons are also drawing awareness to its ‘your bed, your way’ in-store service, where ‘sleep experts’ help people select the right mattress from an overwhelming choice of sizes, frames and fabrics.
