O2 is taking the weight off travelers’ shoulders this summer with the launch of a temporary airport lounge at Gatwick Airport, replete with a Disney+ TV room and deckchairs.

O2 is banishing airport blues by creating a luxury lounge

The telecoms brand is cementing its position as the sole remaining network to maintain inclusive roaming rights across the EU post-Brexit by wining and dining holidaymakers at an exclusive lounge.

The O2 Roam Freely Lounge supports the brand’s summer campaign touting the convenience and savings ushered in by the freedom to roam continent-wide to all its customers.

Produced by VCCP London’s Girl&Bear studio, the hi-tech hideaway offers free wifi, copious charging sockets and exclusive deals for all Priority customers.

Daryn Lawrence, creative director at VCCP London, said: “Love holidays, but loathe airport travel? Yeah, me too. Instead of airports being a place to begrudge, we thought we’d flip the script and allow O2 customers to embrace the magic of travel right at the start with a relaxing lounge, equipped with everything needed to kickstart that holiday feeling. O2 is all about cost-free, hassle-free travel, and our lounge is the perfect extension of the Roam Freely promise.”

Guests will be treated to a complimentary drink for their stay, putting them in the holiday mood before leaving the country. To gain access to the retreat O2 Priority members must download a QR code for entry.

O2’s ‘Roam Freely’ summer push kicked off last month with a clog-wearing Bubl the robot embarking on a trip to Amsterdam in tandem with the sponsorship of ITV’s Love Island.
