The agency, which opened its doors in 2017 when founders Adam Ferrier, Jim Ingram and Ben Couzens left Cummins & Partners to start their own shop, currently has offices in both Sydney and Melbourne.

Ferrier told The Drum the decision to launch in New Zealand was about timing.

“There are a few opportunities coalescing at the same time which makes the timing right. Also, we just want to get out and see the world post-Covid.”

“We love New Zealand for its creativity and whimsy, it’s a beautiful place and every company in the world should have an office in NZ.

“Our offer is somewhat unique, integrating creative, media and earned. However, another way to look at it is, it’s a bit like fast food restaurants they tend to stick together - we’re excited by the possibility to sit next to some of the brilliant creative shops in NZ,” said Ferrier.

Thinkerbell’s CEO Margie Reid said in a post on LinkedIn:

“Thinkerbell is doing pretty well in Sydney (Thinkerbell North) and Melbourne (Thinkerbell South) - in fact, we're the current Mumbrella PR, Creative, and Full Service Agency of the Year, and now’s the time to think about Thinkerbell East, New Zealand (we’re thinking Auckland?). So we're coming, and we'd love to find the right local partners to help Thinkerbell East become a thing.”

Since launching, the agency has been on a strong upward trajectory, attracting investment from PwC and expanding rapidly. Thinkerbell's clients include IAG, Lion, Menulog, Dan Murphy's and Vegemite.

The agency has won a slew of awards, including Regional Independent Agency Of The Year for Australia and New Zealand at the London International Awards (LIA) in 2021.
