Media and entertainment group Global has retained its status as Britain’s biggest airport media owner after its Gatwick Airport advertising contract was extended for five years.

The contract grants Global exclusive advertising rights throughout Gatwick Airport

The contract grants Global exclusive advertising rights throughout the airport, including an attention-grabbing ‘welcome arch’ and standard digital screens peppered throughout the terminals and departure lounges.

The airport shuttle is also included, with Global overseeing travelator wraps, platform and in-carriage displays and audio outlets – just in time for a predicted post-Covid resurgence in air travel, with passenger numbers expected to hit up to 90% of 2019 levels this summer.

Chris Forrester, director of commercial, outdoor at Global, said: “We love connecting brands with people, and as the travel industry continues to thrive following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, airports are a great environment to engage with a captive audience and to inspire travelers as they pass through.”

Gatwick’s Nick Williams, head of retail operations, added: “We are proud of the environment we offer to advertisers, enabling them to reach audiences when they are at their most engaged. We have exciting plans to further develop the advertising estate over the coming years, which we believe will create an even stronger platform for advertisers to inspire our passengers.”

Global’s airport estates extend to London’s Luton and Stansted, as well as Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Southampton, Southend, Prestwick and Guernsey.
