Sony Interactive Entertainment has revamped its PlayStation Plus offering and, to mark the occasion and celebrate the titles on offer in its library, is asking gamers ‘Why be one thing when you can be anything?’

The new spot from Adam&EveDDB narrates the story of Mr Malcolm, an older gentleman who at first appears fairly normal but is soon revealed to have lived many lives.

As Mr Malcolm enters his house, the camera follows him down into a secret basement full of incredible objects from his many adventures, including the BB pod from Death Stranding, Bloodborne’s Saw Cleaver, a Watcher from the world of Horizon and Jin Sakai’s mask from Ghost of Tsushima, each drawing viewers deeper into the mystery of who this man is.

Eric Lempel, senior vice-president and head of global marketing at PlayStation Network, said: ”As a brand, we are very fortunate that people love PlayStation and have a great passion for our products and services. With that passion comes an emotional connection to our brand. Rather than trying to focus on the functional aspects or features of a product in 30 or 60 seconds, our goal is to lean-in to the experiences and stories that will get the viewers to connect in a more visceral way.

”As we enter a new chapter of PlayStation Plus, we’re incredibly excited and our future goal remains the same as with anything inherently PlayStation – to excite our fans, offer them new adventures to explore, new experiences not yet taken, new challenges not yet faced, and to give them even more reasons to believe in PlayStation.”
