Snickers swinging scenario has everyone cringing in latest ‘Unfiltered’ ad

The Drum’s Ad of the Day highlights work that stands head and shoulders above the rest. Today’s winner is Snickers’ ‘Unfiltered’ by BBDO New York.

Confectionery brand Snickers is tapping into the notion that you aren’t yourself when you’re feeling peckish with a new spot depicting a cringe-worthy scenario.

‘Unfiltered’ starts with two couples playing a fun board game one evening. As the commercial progresses one of the women innocently asks: “Hey, do you guys want to do a little swap?”

Slightly confused but equally quite taken with the idea of ‘swapping,’ the other female player replies that she could be into it, but questions if she would have to move in with the other male player or if it’s more of a one-time thing.

Around the table, a range of confusion, embarrassment and hurt feelings ensue as the penny begins to drop.

The spot ends with the tagline: ‘You’re unfiltered when you’re hungry,’ with the action being to eat a Snickers bar of chocolate to satisfy the cravings.

The short-but-sweet 30-sec ad was created by BBDO New York. It will run on TV and is being amplified through press and social media.
