Welcome to Award Winning Stories, a regular video series exploring the stories behind some of the winning work from The Drum Awards.

In this episode, we find out how the Local Collective won the Best Response to Change category at The Drum Awards for Out of Home with its campaign for Roncesvalles Village BIA. With visually-arresting messages in the windows of local shops, the campaign made an important point about the importance of shopping local, especially in after 2020’s lockdowns.

Already-struggling small businesses in the Toronto neighborhood of Roncesvalles faced a second lockdown at the start of the crucial holiday season. The Roncesvalles Business Improvement Area knew something had to be done to encourage Torontonians to shop local on the high street for the holiday season.

You can hear the full story from the Local Collective president and chief creative officer Matthew Litzinger above and on our YouTube channel.

And don’t forget to enter The Drum Awards for Marketing before March 23.
