In this role, Madakshira will lead all aspects of growth for Rezolve’s business in India. He speaks to The Drum about his mandate in the new role, the journey from a CMO to a CEO, and the lessons as a marketer.

Getting behind the mobile-first company

Rezolve was founded in 2016, is headquartered in London, UK, and has offices in China, India, Taiwan, Germany, Spain, and Mexico.

Even though relatively new to India, Rezolve, an enterprise SaaS platform designed from the ground up specifically for mobile commerce and engagement, has huge ambitions to make it big here.

In that backdrop, having a foot in the Indian market is the next logical plan what with India’s high level of mobile penetration, combined with the vast scale of its population, that makes the market ideal for Rezolve.

“India is a critical market for the company”, said Dan Wagner, Rezolve’s chairman and CEO and “Sunder Madakshira is joining us as CEO for our Indian operations to drive our growth in the region.”

The just-announced chief executive Madakshira has been a marketer for many years at different companies and industries. These include, most recently Adobe, and before that companies like SAP, Harman, Infosys, Wipro, and Hindustan Lever (Unilever).

On the shift and the learnings as a marketer across B2C, B2B brands across consumer goods, technology, and financial services brands, Madakshira shares in an exclusive chat with The Drum: “I would certainly like to take the core aspects of marketing ie, customer-centricity forward in the new role - the ability to understand what the customers truly need and how Rezolve can partner with them to solve their biggest challenges is going to be the key focus.”

His mandate in the new role includes, “growing the business for Rezolve in India, by delighting and helping the customers achieve the next normal in terms of customer experiences.”

What got him excited about the mandate was the opportunity to create a new category in the marketing technology space, he says.

Market-readiness of India for a mobile-first company like Rezolve

India is a confluence of massive mobile/internet penetration, unbelievable consumer scale, and brands which want to be world-class. To that add the exciting space of marketing which has its three- technology, consumer, and brand – all of which when combined with what Rezolve brings so powerfully, makes for a very exciting journey, says Madakshira.

Rezolve’s technology is revolutionary and signals the future of what category- and market-leading brands would like to be part of, he adds.
