Jennifer Aniston has shared her personal sleep story on behalf of pharmaceutical firm Idorsia to show the 25 million Americans who suffer from insomnia that they are not alone.

‘Seize the Night and Day’ is a national education campaign fronted by the Friends actress, who shares insights on how to overcome sleep deprivation based on her experiences.

Supported by a range of resources to help individuals and healthcare providers, the campaign opens people’s eyes to the impact insomnia has during both the day and night.

Surfacing the debilitating impact of a condition that is too often overlooked by the focus on diet and exercise, the campaign forms part of a multi-year commitment by Aniston and Idorsia to work together to inform, inspire and empower people to receive a full night’s rest. As part of this collaboration, Aniston will participate in a family of digital and television advertising guiding people to communities and resources that show insomnia sufferers they are not alone.

Aniston said: “My challenges with sleep began many years ago – so it’s such a priority for my overall health. If I don’t get a good night’s sleep, my next day is really difficult. In working with Idorsia, I hope that we can all start prioritizing sleep health and have different conversations around trouble sleeping.”

Insomnia affects around 25 million Americans with a lack of sleep linked to an impaired ability to concentrate, and changes in mood and energy levels. Left unchecked, the condition has been linked to psychiatric disorders, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, substance abuse and dementia.

Aniston has previously harnessed her celebrity in support of sufferers of chronic dry eye.
