Erectile dysfunction and hair loss specialist Numan is urging men to undergo home blood tests in an advertising campaign promoting male health and wellbeing.

The online clinic has devised a finger prick test that it says negates the need to travel to a clinic for face-to-face appointments, circumventing difficulties in accessing a full NHS blood test in light of the pandemic.

Numan claims the test measures hormone, vitamin and cholesterol levels as well as thyroid function, enabling subjects to make informed lifestyle choices to improve their physical wellbeing.

To communicate this messaging, Numan’s in-house creative depicts a great white shark swimming in a red sea, supported by a voiceover that invites viewers to “confront our health issues fearlessly,” concluding with a call to “bring us your blood.”

Dr Luke Pratsides, lead GP at Numan, said: “There is value in a regular asymptomatic check as it can pick up signs of disease early before symptoms appear or too much damage occurs. The earlier any intervention or treatment is started the better for conditions like diabetes, high cholesterol, poor kidney, liver or thyroid function.”

Numan’s founder and chief executive officer Sokratis Papafloratos added: “Our blood can tell us so much – but with that comes a sense of fear; fear of the unknown. This campaign is about inspiring and enabling men to fearlessly confront what their blood can tell them about their health – which can have life-changing, not to mention lifesaving, results.”

Numan delivers its test within 24 hours of order, with blood samples posted to an approved lab for results within five days.
