Home Alone dildo ad claims German sex toy first

An arresting billboard has been erected in Germany which claims to be the first in the country to picture a sex toy in a public advertisement.

Conceived by pleasure firm Womanizer the unmistakable curves of a pink dildo greeted Berliners going about their business by pointing to alternative forms of fun that can be had when you have no one to play Monopoly with.

The eye-catching display dovetails with the release of the sixth movie in the Home Alone franchise on Disney+, implying that comedic attempts at burglary aren't all that can happen behind closed doors when people find themselves at a loose end.

Standing tall through December the festive campaign sees Womanizer position itself as a standard-bearer for sexual empowerment, with its popular sex toy now secreted away in over four million bedside cabinets in over 60 countries.

Upending the notion of what a toy at Christmas means the campaign follows a similarly attention-grabbing billboard campaign by sister brand Arcwave, with a job posting that sought to destigmatize working in the sex toy industry.

When it comes to dildo advertising Germany is still behind the curve with Canadians being distracted by roadside sex toy advertisements as far back as 2019.
