The changing of the guard at the technology giant comes after Mendelsohn accepted a new role as vice-president for Meta’s global business group.
A champion of diversity in the workplace, Gifford joined Meta early last year as a representative of the company in 34 Central European markets having previously served over 30 years working for technology giants such as Microsoft and Hewlett-Packard.
Mendelsohn said: “Angie has been an invaluable member of Meta’s EMEA leadership team, playing a critical role in scaling and expanding our operations across Central Europe. Angie has an incredible wealth of experience, working with major brands and driving digital innovation and transformation.”
Commenting on her elevation, Gifford added: “As VP for EMEA, I’m really excited about working side by side with our clients and partners across the region to help them maximize every opportunity to grow their businesses and to explore the possibilities that the metaverse will afford.”
Gifford also serves on the board of the German-American transatlantic association Atlantik-Brücke and is part of the corporate supervisory board of Thyssenkrupp.
