Ad of the Day: Snow globe romance tugs heartstrings in Air Canada’s stop-motion tale
Magic is in the air this festive season as Air Canada debuts a heartwarming campaign bringing an imaginative take on traveling.
‘Tis the Season to Believe’ was created by FCB Canada, in partnership with Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, and hopes to emotionally connect with people who haven’t been able to see loved ones in the last couple of years.
It’s a touching tale of an Air Canada pilot who brings home a snow globe for her young son to add to his growing collection. Through the boy’s imagination viewers witness the ornaments coming to life as the camera pans from the real-life shots to stop-motion animation scenes inside two of the glass domes.

As the story continues, we meet two characters in the separate snow globes – one in a cold wintry scene and the other in a tropical setting. Although they are separated by glass, and climates, they form a bond with each other and long for the day that they can eventually meet, leaning into the campaign sentiment that being together really is special.
“This year’s holiday brand spot, ‘Tis the Season to Believe,’ was inspired by the universally-shared experiences and emotions felt over the course of the pandemic. But this piece is also inspired by the resilience and power of love and determination that has brought us back together,” said Andy Shibata, vice-president of brands at Air Canada.
“Slowly but surely, family and friends have been able to safely reunite and share beautiful moments together again, and we feel very fortunate to play a small part in their journeys back to one another.”
Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, a collective of artists and creators, worked on the film’s unique mixture of live-action shots and clay-style animation. Keeping with the uplifting theme, the ad is soundtracked by two Canadian musicians, Forest Blakk and Coeur de pirate, whose emotive songs and lyrics add to the love story.
The campaign will be supported by TV, cinema, social media and owned channel activations.
